WHAT IS IT?
The VW Jetta was a sedan version of the Golf platform also sold under the Bora name outside of the United States. This example is from the model’s 4th generation and appears to be the top-spec GLX trim with the more powerful VR6 engine (a narrow-angle V6 in which both cylinder banks share a single cylinder head), a manual transmission, and leather interior. While the GTI is typically remembered as the sporty VW, the Jetta came in similar performance spec and a GLI version typically mirrored GTI specifications. I personally owned a Mark 2 Jetta GLI 16 valve and have had a soft spot for the model ever since.
WHY THIS ONE HAS BEST ONE ON THE PLANET CHOPS
First, as usual, low miles and condition place this in rare company. Despite some accident history in the car’s past, this appears to be repaired to as-new condition with only some apparent modifications to lower the car’s suspension and an attractive Nardi steering wheel. The interior, especially that dashboard and leather seats, still looks fantastic and modern. Add in the classic appeal of the green over tan color combination, the V6, and the manual and you have a true unicorn for VW enthusiasts to admire at any event. This car is for sale in Dayton, OH, by Euro Classics. Thanks for submitting this one, it’s a beauty!

This is an absolute time capsule example of one of these Jettas. These cars dissolve like an Alka-Seltzer tablet and the fact that this one looks so perfect makes it all the more rare. Could well be the best one left.
I love MK 3 Golfs and Jettas. I nearly bought one new in an identical spec. It’s really hard to overstate how big of a deal the narrow-angle VR6 with over 170-horsepower was in this little sedan. And while I’ve see a few really nice MK 2s lately, I can’t remember seeing a MK 3 this nice in I don’t know how long. The lowering springs and period Borbet wheels while not stock, certainly add to the appeal of this car and that A-10 Warthog in the background is just the chef’s kiss. The condition, combined with the brilliant spec make this one a cinch for me. I think it’s The Best One on the Planet.
