WHAT IS IT?
The Series III or “rubber tail” Alfa Spider has historically been the least favored of Alfa’s long-running sports car, but lately, this model seems to be having its moment. With better rust-proofing, amenities like A/C and Bosch electronic fuel-injection, it’s certainly easier to live with than the earlier cars, and less expensive than the later Series IV. This example is a range-topping Quadrifoglio model, sans hardtop.
WHY THIS CAR HAS BEST ONE ON THE PLANET CHOPS
For whatever reason, the interiors of these cars tend to age badly. The grey leather with red deviated stitching seems to dry and crack and seams split. Red carpeting fades to pink, etc. This one suffers from none of the above maladies. The interior is lovely, as is the trunk and engine compartment. The underside is quite decent as well. As a Quadrifoglio, it should also sport a removable hardtop, but that seems to have either gone missing or it was deleted during the order process. The car shows a believable 36,000 miles and it’s for sale in Virginia with a seemingly quite reasonable asking price of under $20,000.Â
