WHAT IS IT?
1975 Continental Mark IV finished in extremely rare Gold Diamond Fire Luxury Group (code 54) with White leather upholstery with Brown accents. The Continental Mark IV was a “personal luxury” car that was marketed by the Lincoln division of Ford Motor Company from the 1972 to 1976 model years. The Mark IV was a direct competitor to the 600 lb lighter but yet somehow much more battleship like feeling Cadillac Eldorado. The Lincoln was equipped with a 460 cu. in. V8 that managed a weezing 212hp and 3 speed automatic transmission giving the car stately performance. One can image an unhurried retired dentist arriving at the local country club in this stunning conveyance, without a care in the world for sporty handling or 0-60 times.

The odometer shows a suspected 18,000 miles since new, while the condition of the striking interior seems to back up they claim. As a devotee of the Mark IV, I’ve not only never seen another in this color combination, but have seen fewer than a handful in this condition. This combo makes it a strong contender for Best on the Planet.

You had me at “Gold Diamond Fire.” I really wish we knew the back story here. I’m imagining that this was a studio car, loaned out to shows like “Cannon” and “Starsky and Hutch” and when the MK V came out, the car went into storage somewhere. It gets my enthusiastic vote.
