WHAT IS IT?

The Toyota MR2 Spider was a throwback to an earlier era of lightweight sports cars. It seems simply unbelievable that a car was offered as recently as 2002 that weighed just 2,196-lbs.  Its 138-hp 1ZZ engine seems inadequate until you factor in that aforementioned gauzy curb weight. The MR2 had almost no options, and sadly, this one has the one that most enthusiasts don’t want, a sequential manual box with two pedals. Still, we’re into condition more than spec and this one is a stunner.

WHY THIS CAR HAS BEST ONE ON THE PLANET CHOPS

Like most Toyotas, the brand’s reputation for reliability generally translates into lots of use and therefore lots of miles.  This one, however is wrapper fresh with just over 3,200 miles. It seems crazy, but maybe it lived most of its life towed behind an RV or in a Florida car port? Adding to the appeal is the fact that it’s reasonably priced. This perfect nearly new Mister Two is being offered by a Toyota dealer in Tennessee for $23,888, which is about $1,200 less than it sold for new.
