WHAT IS IT?

The Jaguar XK8 was first sold as a 1996 model year car and was made through the 2006 model year. It was available bas both a coupe and convertible with approximately a third represented by the coupe body. Earlier examples had a 4.0 liter V8 with 280 hp and those after the 2002 model year, like this example, had a slightly larger 4.2 liter engine with 300 hp. Supercharged variants were sold under the XKR moniker.

WHY THIS ONE HAS BEST ONE ON THE PLANET CHOPS

XK8s aren’t particularly rare, Jaguar produced just over 90,000 examples during the car’s 10-year run. This also isn’t the more powerful XKR which almost requires it’s own category in terms of collectability. But base XK8s remain handsome grand-touring cars in the old-world sense of the term. Comfortable, powerful, and elegant. We would argue that the coupe version looks more exotic and special than the more common convertibles, but both evoque Jaguar’s history. Common failings seem to have been avoided here. The cream leather interior appears to be particularly well preserved. The cupholders in the center console seem to be broken in almost every example we see but look perfectly preserved here. It shows under 29,000 original miles and it was doubtlessly garaged and pampered. This car is for auction on Cars and Bids so the selling price is as of yet unknown, but non R models rarely sell for more than $12-15k making these an unusually great buy for a special car that still turns heads.
