1990 Ferrari Testarossa

WHAT IS IT?

The Ferrari Testarossa was introduced in 1984 as a successor to the Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer. This 2-door Grand Tourer is powered by a 4.9-Liter mid-mounted 12-cylinder engine and delivered to the rear wheels through a rear-mounted five-speed manual transmission. The design was handled by Pininfarina and features the iconic Testarossa side intakes, with strakes beginning on the doors and extending to the rear fenders where cool air could be routed to twin side radiators. Fewer than 10,000 examples were produced over the 13-year run, making it one of the highest production Ferraris for the time.

This 1990 Ferrari Testarossa has spent its entire life registered in Illinois, with the seller owning the car since 1997. Sure, there are probably lower mileage Testarossas out there, the service records and long ownership history shows that every one of the 23,000 miles were driven with loving care. The beige Connolly leather seats and trim look showroom fresh in the pictures, with the only real signs of use being some shiny spots on the steering wheel and floor mat discoloration. The original speedometer did fail, and was replaced in 2002, but whoever wins the bid will not only receive the invoice from the repair, they will get the original speedometer showing 17,600 miles.

The only place this Ferrari shows its age is the exhaust system. Heat shields are starting to corrode and pinholes are growing. For a 35-year-old undercarriage, the wear is far less than one would expect.
