WHAT IS IT?

The Z32 300ZX marked Nissan’s return to sports car seriousness. Gone were the discomobile trappings of the previous generation Zcar—In place of silver leather and digital dashboards, you got optional twin-turbocharging and Super HICAS four-wheel steering and truly timeless styling, all in an easy-to-live-with package. Performance also increased substantially with this generation, with the turbo V6 option providing 300 real horsepower.

WHY THIS CAR HAS BEST ONE ON THE PLANET CHOPS

The “two Cs” of condition and color are on full display here—black with red is a classic combo for the Z32 and the condition is simply next-level. The car looks utterly concours-ready with an unworn interior, a beautifully presented engine compartment, and copious records including a fully stamped service booklet. As we often state, we choose cars based on condition rather than spec, but the spec of this Euro-market car is intriguing—it’s a 2+2 Twin Turbo never offered for sale in the U.S. Most of these cars are worn-out rats that suffer wildly from the 4th and 5th owner syndrome or questionable modifications. Quality like this 21,000-mile example is almost impossible to find.

I owned MY1990 Yellow Pearl Turbo and it was a remarkable car in its era. While I admired its overall package, for whatever ever reason it never really captured my soul. Now that more than 15 years has past, I now reflect my slightly more mature self might appreciate it more.

On this example, I just can’t warm up to the 2+2, not to mention this is one of the rare cars of that era where the European version wasn’t appreciably better than what we had on offer in the USA. So with that in mind, I would patiently wait as there was a large contingent of middle managers who couldn’t quite swing a Porsche or Corvette who bought these and treated them as precious children. They are out there!

I’m on the fence about this one. I’d love to see some underside shots, but I’d be willing to bet that this is just as clean underneath as it is topside. Lift ownership in Europe doesn’t seem to be as common as it is in North America. I didn’t even know that this spec existed. Waiting for a few others to weigh in, but damn, this is a really nice Z32!
