WHAT IS IT?
The Alfa Romeo Alfetta Sprint had a tough act to follow. The 105-Series Giulia was a classic for the ages, an early Giugiaro/Bertone effort with a tall greenhouse and soft curves that is the definition of timeless, never seeming to age one iota. The Alfetta coupe was very much a product of its time, another Bertone effort, but a sharp, glassy wedge that quickly went out of fashion (although it made it until the late 1980s as the Busso V6-powered GTV6). With its superb balance owing to its front-engine/rear transaxle design, the lightweight 4-cylinder Alfetta is gaining new fans.
WHY THIS CAR HAS BEST ONE ON THE PLANET CHOPS
While lovely, Alfettas reacted to even the hint of moisture like an Alka Seltzer tablet to water. From the first sign of rust at the rear window molding, the progression to basket case was swift. This Alfetta is simply stunning with its dainty Euro bumpers and beautifully presented interior and engine compartment, the only hint of corrosion is on the cast-iron exhaust manifold. We’ve never seen a nicer one and we’ll wager you haven’t either. Judges, what say you?
